My place and yours - My secret weapon.

On any other day the my secret weapon theme might have been a tricky one but not today.

Today I am exhausted having been up most of the night with a vomiting child. Today I have a difficult decision to make. Today I have received a disappointing email. Today I feel overwhelmed by the mountain of washing and the enormous recycling pile. Today I have just spend the last 45 minutes crying in the corner of the kitchen.

My family are my secret weapon.

My family that cuddle me, kiss me, make me 'feel better' cards, reassure me and talk me through it.

Its' mushy but its true. I couldn't do this without them.

Thanks mybricole for the theme and Pip for being the hostess with the mostess.

  1. I feel like I need to deliver some magic ice cream to your house, but I think customs probably wouldn't approve of that. Good luck to you. I hope everyone is better soon. I love the photo montage on your wall.

  3. So sorry to hear that you have had a morning of sadness, but that is a wonderful wall of pics and a mountain of kiddie cuddles is an excellent secret weapon to have handy.

  4. Sorry to hear you are having a rough day Kate -I hope the hard decision and disappointing email don' linger too long in your mind.
Don't worry about the washing - we all have that - I no longer have a spare basket to put all the clean stuff in - there's so much of it to fold.
Hope your little one is better and the bug is not shared.
Enjoy the sanctuary that your family provides.
    Take care.

  5. I almost chose my family too but I think they might be my extra secret weapon to be revealed another time! So sorry to hear that you have been sad, some days are like that aren't they? I almost feel like I need those crying days sometimes, to keep my perspective and to get back to basics. Does that make any sense? Perhaps you are on a bit of a birthday come down too. Anyway, vomit doesn't exactly lift the spirits does it? Hope you are feeling chirpier soon and that the day gets brighter and happier. Love what your family means to you xo

  9. I hope you have a wonderful evening Kate to make up for the sad day you are having. I have spent this week with both kids have a 12 hour virus of vomiting, Isabelle for 4 hours Monday and then Lachie for 6 hours Wedneday night. They both seem to be better now but I have to keep them out of this heat or otherwise it will come back I think. I love your photo wall, very impressive and full of lovely faces!

hey, don't worry about that pile of washing, as long as there are a few clean clothes around it will eventually get done.
I bet all it takes is for your girls to give you a smile and it will all seem better.
hugs and I hope that there is no more crying today :)

Is happier than the day before
The sun warms you, the wind cools you
The ocean calms your inner storm
As I send all my cuddles from the other shore

  24. I hope your loving and wonderful secret weapon has helped you through the day. It doesn't sound like a a very good start, but hopefully your day has improved. Have an early night!!

A big raspberry to the e-mail and "vomit begone" I say (hmmm, actually I have been saying that for 12 consecutive days here without much luck).

  25. oh Kate, I hope everything is alright.... Nothing worse than a nasty email...
I recieved one from a blogger about 18 months ago and still get upset about it... I did absolutely nothing wrong but she decided that in her infinite wisdom it was her job to tell me that I had... Thank goodness we have families to fall back on in our times of need..

    *Hugs*

  29. I'm not really sure what to say other than I am thinking of you and am sorry to read that today was crappy. Awesome wall of family photos but I'm sure it pales in comparison to how wonderful your family is in the flesh.
Hope the weather is good in your part of the world and that you have the time and health for a good Sunday walk with that lovely family of yours.
    Stuff the washing.

  30. Wow, your day sounds really really tough. Thank God for a wonderful family around you (even the vomity one...). I'm glad you have love and support to bolster you. The best kind of secret weapon to have.

  31. Aw. I totally get this. It's so hard when you have tough times, and you are just plugging away and doing your best. It doesn't seem fair. But you know what, fair it is, because you get through and come out the other side. And you go 'Wow. I didn't think I could do that. Wow.' and you realise that you are WAY acer then you ever knew. So remember that. Ace IS you.

I hope you can inch forward, tiny bit by tiny bit, and things get better soon, soon, soon.

    Email? Pee-Mail, I say.

    xx

  34. I'm so sorry you had a crappy Saturday, hope the sunshine today and your lovely family are lifting your spirits. Thanks for sharing some of your 'bad day' with us, I sometimes think I'm the only one who feels completely overwhelmed by the mountains of mundane washing/cooking/cleaning etc and I can assure you sweetie that you are not the only one who has been crying in the corner of the kitchen this week. I'm sending you some (possibly useless) *virtual hugs* but at least you know we're all thinking of you!

  35. And aren't family just the best for bringing us back to earth and to reality & reminding us that everything will be ok and that this too will pass.
