Pincushions & toothfairies.

The apple pin cushion I won at the wonderful craftapalooza blog arrived yesterday. I'm so excited I just love it. Indi is more excited by the envelope it came in with all those stamps to add to her collection.

The big news at our house is that Jazzy lost her first tooth! Being the second child she has been waiting for this moment for a very, very long time.

She was very lucky to get a visit last night from the very same tooth fairy that visited me and my sisters when we were little. This tooth fairy leaves a gold coin, a poem describing how the tooth came to fall out and always signs her notes the same way.

Hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray,
To Jazzy's house I have flown today.

Her first loose tooth she wibbled and wobbled,
Until in class a strawberry she gobbled.

Her tooth fell out sooner not later,
And Mrs C stuck it on a piece of paper.

Down I have flown to pick it up,
From that piece of paper inside a cup.

Now I'll leave you some money and this little tune,
Brush your teeth well and I'll see you real soon.

Love the T.F.

My softie for Mirabel is coming along slowly and steadily. I love how the pattern I am using is made in one piece rather than bits to be sewn together at the end.

It's non stop tea parties here at the moment. Not a lot of washing up though.

I hope you are having a lovely day.

  1. Yes - I doubt that news can get any bigger than Jazzy's first tooth falling out. And I think the TF's poetry has definitely improved with time - and practice. How wonderful! xxxxx

  3. How exciting for Jazzy to lose her first tooth. I love that poem, pity Isabelle has already lost all her baby teeth. Your softie is looking great too. At least with outdoor tea parties it doesnt matter too much about the dirty dishes, lol!

  5. Oh I know that pattern - recognise the book behind in the photo. It's so clever esp since stitching the softies together is always a hard task to find motivation for. Can't wait to see the finished product.

  6. Love the photo of Jazzy, how proud she is! We must have a different, less poetic, tooth fairy, over here in inner city D'ford. I wish yours would fly our way. How fun to win something, cute pincushion! How is life with you? Would love to catch up maybe next week..chat soon xo

  11. I love the idea of crocheting a softie with one big long piece of string! :)

I find the joining of limbs and appendages can be a bit annoying and my joins are often messy :S

  14. Love, love, love the poem idea Kate, very sweet.
Fairies sometimes leave notes in our fairy garden, usually once they have one of the girls says how she heard them the night before...
Tea party looks fun - though I suspect the cake might be a little grainy!

  15. What a gorgeous poem and tooth fairy! That fairy is one good writer. It's very special always when the tooth fairy comes, but especially the first time.
I'm looking forward very much to seeing your finished softie for Mirabel too!

Thanks so much for stopping by...

I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.
