A motif a day in May!

So here we are on the first day in May!
How on earth did that happen?
Is it just me, or is this year speeding ahead?

So being May as it is means that it is the one year anniversary of my learning and starting to crochet.

I have been crocheting for a whole year!

Wow!

I was intending to do a bit of a photo mosaic of some of the things I have crocheted over the last year but Jazzy is tugging at me, desperate to get to the ballet shop in Ballarat, so instead I'll tell you of my plan.

In celebration of my one year crochetaversary, I plan to crochet A Motif a Day in May.

I will mainly be working through Beyond The Square, Crochet Motifs book, but if I see one I like somewhere else, I'll make that instead.

The six motifs I have made so far are numbers one through six from the book.

May just happens to be the craziest month here on the farm, so I wont be posting photos every single day, it'll probably be a bunch here and there. There is also a good chance that it might end up being called A Motif a Day Most Days in May.

I'm looking forward to sewing them on lots of clothes too.

I hope you have the most wonderful weekend. XX

  7. I've decided not to set myself such goals this year! I'm sick of disappointing myself let alone other watchers.

I too can't believe you've only been crocheting for a year. You just seem to be so good at it. Those colours are wonderful and will look great on your wonderful clothes. I'm looking forward to branching out after this blanket is done.

    Good luck Kate!

  9. Well all your crocheted bits look beautiful to me!!! I will look forward to all the pretty pieces you post pictures of! I am doing really well with crochet stitches now, but still having an impossible time with where the row starts and stops, I seem to either drop or add stitches, so it either gets bigger or shrinks as I go along row by row. But I'm not giving up.

  23. Hi, Kate, I am about to start a 2nd pair of pants, sewing a seam with short stitches, THEN overlocking, and see how they go. Do you want me to make Jazzy a pair and maybe we could do a swap for some crocheted ric-rac? Or a few motifs? If so, what size did you use, i'm using 7-8, and am about to re-trace with seam allowances in!

  26. OMGoodness kate, you are a legend. look at your crochet beauty and you have been hooking for a mere year. i am aghast. i have been happily hooking (must be careful to whom i make that particular announcement) for 40 odd years and i doubt that i could manage such divine motifs. i am seriously buying that book though. well done you

  32. What an awesome idea Kate :) I miss my crochet - I started early last year and bought a whole pile of wool then got so busy I had to leave it. Maybe now that I have more time i'll be able to pick it up again and finish that blanket! Might have to refresh my memory on how to actually do it though hehehe!

May 18th is my 1 year crochet anniversary and its probably the best thing I've ever taught myself to do,I've been addicted to it since day one and I think I'm probably single handedly supporting the british yarn industry with the huge amounts I buy!
