forest dancing

Hello honey bunches,

How are you feeling? How's your week been?

It's so gorgeous to have you here. I'm imagining you sitting in a comfy chair with your shoes kicked off. I'm imagining you've made yourself a hot drink and grabbed your lap top and have claimed these next few minutes for yourself. It's quiet, you're warm enough, nobody needs anything from you, there's nothing to do, you're here with me.

I've been sitting here scrolling back and forth through these photos wondering what I'm going to write about today. I feel good. I feel like my week's flowed from one thing to the next and I've kept up with it.   No major breakthroughs, and no major breakdowns (on my part anyway).

Maybe I should take you through the highlights...

I had my car serviced in Ballarat, we took the girls to Melbourne to buy overalls for Jazzy, we watched and fell in love with Given the movie, I drove the girls to school a bunch of times, I baked bread twice, and I went to gym three times.

I almost finished and have LOVED reading a book called Lab Girl: A story of Trees, Science and Love, I was emailed by lots of businesses wanting me to create content for them for free, I collected kindling from the forest, split lots of wood and kept the home fires burning and I started knitting another Guernsey Wrap for my Mum.

I planted peas, lettuces and leeks in the green house and broad beans and onions in the garden, I watched Bren and Jobbo build the most beautiful open shelves for the kitchen wall and I started to fill them up with jars and plates and bunches of flowers and I spent the most magical time in the top orchard picking daffodils with Miss Pepper.

I comforted all three of my girls who were upset at different times. I also woke them up in the morning, cooked them food, listened to them, laughed with them and kissed their sweet cheeks as they went to bed at night. I tried my hardest not to let the incessant rain bother me too much, I froze my toes off and I listened to and loved the Reply All podcast - The Case of the Phantom Caller.

I had an accidental coffee with my Mum, we had a pizza dinner reunion of the cast of Pepper's play and we remembered that this time last year we were flooded in and so even though it feels wet, it can't be that wet.

I watched the garden finally start to show some growth again, I saw so many joeys in kangaroo pouches and I felt optimistic in my heart for this growing season. I lay awake a lot in the night, I listened carefully to the sounds of the night, I tried again to meditate and I hoped that none of my girls inherit the bad sleeping gene.

We waved Miss Jazzy off on a five day hike, we waved Miss Indi off on an overnight trip to Melbourne and we picked Miss Pepper up from school a bit early because she had a tummy ache.

I counted five days for Pepper and nine days for the big girls until the end of third term, I dreamt of a break in the routine and of all the extra things we'll be able to fit into our days. I found chewing gum all through a load of washing, I hid in my bedroom in a grump and I felt grateful when Bren and Indi helped me scrape it all off.

I voted YES for marriage equality, I bought the sweetest Love is Love pins from My Bearded Pigeon, and I wished for a world where everyone feels equal to be who they want to be, love who they want to love and marry the person they love. It's that simple.

How about you? What have you been up to?
Have you listened to any good podcasts?
Have you had any great ideas?
Have you needed to hide in your bedroom in a grump?
Or dance to loud music in the street?

And with that I bid you farewell so I can go and look after my sick baby girl on the couch.
I hope your weekend is wonderful.

Love Kate

xx

    1. Thanks honey, I think it was the only time in the whole week that the sun came out. And I think being the only child is going to help Miss Pepper get better quickly. We're about to watch a movie on the couch with her squished in the middle. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too Michele. xx

  2. Thank you so much for the shout out my love. xxx I have spent the week crying sad tears about this horrific survey that is being forced upon us and the outright lies by the NO side. I am also crying tears of gratitude that I feel like everyone in the world that I have ever met or know has bought a pin from me - or two or ten or 50! Twenty10 who we are raising money for are so thrilled and we are super excited to double our efforts! hope to send them $12K in the next few weeks - and this makes my heart so very happy. xxx

  3. I couldn't get motivated this week, thankfully had 2 days with my grand-kids at Ballan - but really blue coming home- state of the world and all. even my usual successful op-shopping did not cheer ... THEN phone call that my 350 copies of my book were being delivered and raced home and then held one in my hands - and now at last working again and smiling and read your lovely blog and say thankyou.

  4. Tucked up in bed reading your blog. A bit cool by Queensland standards. Cup of tea and dog. So wishing it would rain here. We've had a few warm days so everything has dried out. I've been looking online for something Love is Love so will take a look now. Beautiful pics and words as always Kate.

  6. I loved reading your blog, it's definitely a Friday thing. Being in the UK, our weather is so different. We are just entering autumn which some people love. Personally, I hate being cold, so any cold day and I'm too miserable to sit about. We are about to have a new multi-stove burner fitted into the lounge and the builder will cut through the wall opening it up into the dining room. The dining room is a massive space that is always cold as it opens up onto the stairs and any heat is lost. It'll be a double fronted fire, probably all done by the end of October. Have a nice weekend. Cx

    1. Oh wow, your new fire sounds brilliant!! As someone who lives in a house that is very tricky to heat, I totally feel your pain. I hope this is the solution to all your winter problems tho. x

  8. It's still a bit cold here.
Your week sounds lovely, your post sounds happy and spring like, a reawakening of sorts. Those photos are magical, that light.
How lovely for Pepper to watch a movie snuggled between mum and dad.
The chewing of chewing gum drives me crazy enough, finding it through the washing.. I'd probably still be in my room being grumpy.
Gosh you fit a lot into your week/days, I must get off my phone more and actually remember how I filled my days pre social media and taxiing kids.
Hope your weekend is simple and restful.
    Cheers Kate

    1. Gosh the sunshine changes EVERYTHING for me!!
It's pretty windy here but we've had a few days that are warm and things are starting to grow and I feel human again. I am so looking forward to the end of next week when the big girls go on holidays and I can fill whole days with life outside my car. I hope you're having a lovely week and the sun is out there warming your face and drying your laundry. xx

  11. Oh how I miss the daffodils! What a gorgeous picture with the light! Always a lovely visit, enjoy spring and the busyness it brings. Our autumn is starting, cold crops planted and racing the temps to get the house finished painted. (I wonder every time did the house grow, it seems taller every time. lol)

  12. That first picture of your daughter with the daffodils is just so beautiful - like something out of a story book! It's neat to see Spring has come to the other side of the world (here we are welcoming Autumn).

Thanks so much for stopping by...

I do read every single comment you leave and appreciate it very much, but I should let you know that I can be a wee bit on the useless side when replying to comments, that's just me, everyday life sometimes gets in the way....so I'll apologise now, just in case.
